Dit zevende boek uit de Alien-reeks met Kitty ‘Catherine’ Katt in de hoofdrol begint drie maanden na het einde van ‘Alien vs Alien’. Drie maanden zonder vijandelijke buitenaardse wezens die de planeet Aarde willen inpalmen én overheersen, geen explosies of moordpogingen, zelfs geen kleine ontvoering of iets dergelijks minimaal … Natuurlijk was Kitty blij toen ze eindelijk eens aan een adempauze toekwam. Tijd om te wennen aan haar positie als ambassadrice, om te genieten van haar dochter, manlief, familie én de grote A-C vriendenkring. Zaken waar ze volop van kan genieten, al vraagt ze zich stilletjes aan toch af of die drie rustige maanden geen stilte voor de storm zijn. Een stilte waarin het één of andere Meesterbrein volop aan het brainstormen is over een volgende actie.

Tja, dat is er natuurlijk om vragen … Zoals we gewoon zijn van Gini Koch’s boeken is ook dit exemplaar een adrenalineshot vol actie. De ene na de andere gebeurtenis volgt elkaar op, waardoor je als lezer in hetzelfde snelle tempo door dit boek heen lijkt te stormen. Na zeven boeken is het moeilijk om je lezers nog steeds te blijven verbazen. Dankzij de voorgangers van ‘Alien in the House’ weet je immers dat in de boeken van Gini Koch vrijwel alles mogelijk is. Toch ben ik nog steeds een grote fan. Natuurlijk lach ik af en toe tijdens het lezen van een boek, terwijl andere verhalen me dan weer net ontroeren. Deze schrijfster slaagt er echter al zeven boeken lang in om me telkens opnieuw aan het lachen te brengen. Van een kleine glimlach én gegniffel tot een luid klinkende lach. Het spreekt voor zich dat ik deze boeken daarom ook enkel thuis tracht te lezen én niet op verplaatsing. 🙂
